FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you supply pre-ground coffee?

After many requests from our customers, we have introduced ground options for our coffee, although we believe that to get the best out of your coffee, you need to grind it just before you brew.

A whole roasted bean offers a nice protective package, preserving the flavour components, which are very delicate, volatile and water-soluble substances.

Remember, all grounds are also not equal, with different coarseness recommended for different brewing methods.

How fresh are your coffee beans?

Any fresher and they’d still be green…

In all seriousness though, we believe that freshness is vital to getting the best cup of coffee from our beans.

For this reason we roast in small batches, ensuring that you get the freshest possible bean, roasted to same high quality, providing consistency from roast to roast.

Each of our bags include a roast date on the back label

How long will it take to get my order?

Due to the fact that we roast to order, to ensure that you get the best quality beans, there could be a lead time of up to three working days, before your order is dispatched.

Once your item has been dispatched, the delivery times to South African main centres are quite quick – usually within 2 to 3 working days for the economy delivery.

Outside of main centres, the lead times vary and could sometimes take up to a week for delivery.

Do you offer wholesale?

Are you looking for fresh, delicious premium coffee for your coffee shop, restaurant, guest house, hotel or other business?

Well, then look no further. Drop us an email and lets see how we can help you!

Can I return my order?

Please note that we do not accept returns on coffee. Every effort is taken to ensure that the beans we dispatch are up to standard.

However, in the unlikely event of a quality issue, please contact us with the details and we will arrange for a replacement.

We may require a sample and/or photos first to confirm the nature of the issue.

How do I pay for my order?

PayFast – Credit Card, Cheque Card, Debit Card or Bitcoin

We have partnered with PayFast, one of South Africa’s leading secure payment processors, to offer a number of payment methods, including credit/cheque cards (Mastercard or Visa), debit cards and even Bitcoin payments.

PayFast is selected by default at checkout.

When you choose to use it, you’re redirected to PayFast’s secure website, where you can then select which specific payment method you want to use.

Are your beans really pan roasted?

Our passion for coffee grew from pan roasting small batches of green beans from around the world on the stove-top at home.

Learning first hand the stages of roasting that a bean goes through, and how temperature and time affects the intricacies of flavour that can be coaxed out of the humble Arabica bean.

It is this knowledge that we have applied to our roasting, but to ensure that we deliver the best possible quality and consistency, our commercial coffee offerings are drum roasted.

That said, we still pan roast our own beans at home!

How do I get my beans after ordering?

We have partnered with some of South Africa’s leading courier companies to ensure that your order is delivered directly to you.

Please make sure that all the relevant address and contact details at checkout are correct, so that we can get your delivery to you.

We do not deliver to PO Box addresses, as someone needs to sign for the order.

We also have a collection option in Port Elizabeth at the Newton Park Lochners Biltong shop, and are working on setting up additional collection points as we expand.

How much does delivery cost?

We have done our best to balance the convenience of having your items couriered directly to your door, while providing you with the most cost effective solution.

As such, we have determined a fixed courier rate, for economy door to door delivery, based on your location

  • Local  R50
  • Main Centre R65
  • Regional R80

The applicable rate will be calculated based on your zip code.

We do not currently support orders outside of South Africa, but if you are abroad and are keen on trying our coffee, drop us a mail and we will see what we can do

What if I need my coffee fix now?

We understand that sometimes, having to wait for your coffee, can be a challenge, and we want you to know that we are here to assist you wherever possible.

Should you require an express delivery order, please feel free to contact us and we will see what we can do.

Please note that express deliveries are a premium service and are calculated on size and weight of order, and are not subject to the flat rate for economy listed above,

What if I don't like the coffee I ordered?

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that the coffees we offer will be to everyone’s personal taste.

We suggest you start by ordering one of our sample packs, which features a variety of our coffees to try, and then order the one you decide is the right coffee for you!
